Physical DescriptionA commemorative medallion for President Ronald Reagan's speech before the Bundestag on June 9, 1982. On the obverse of the medallion is text stating "FORTIETH PRESIDENT OF U.S.A. RONALD REAGAN" along with an image of President Reagan facing right. On the verso of the medallion is text stating, "US PRÄSIDENT BEI NATO-KONFERENZ IN BONN JUNI 1982 REDE VOR DEM DEUTSCHEN BUNDESTAG 9.6.1982. The text translates to "US PRESIDENT AT NATO CONFERENCE IN BONN JUNE 1982 SPEECH BEFORE THE GERMAN BUNDESTAG 9.6.1982." The image on the back of the medallion is a series of buildings.
Historical NoteThe medal was given through the office of Ambassador Arthur Burns and the American Embassy in Bonn when President Ronald Reagan was in Germany. He visited Bonn and Berlin in West Germany June 9-11, 1982. He addressed the German Bundestag and the people of Berlin, and attended NATO meetings.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
