Physical DescriptionA four piece sterling gold beverage set with amethyst details. The first piece is a pitcher designed to look like a bird's head, either a falcon or an eagle. The head is attached to the pitcher with a hinge and the feathers are tipped with amethysts (.05). The second and third pieces are matching tumblers with amethysts tipped feather detail along the base of the cups (.06-.07). The final object in the set is a tray with handles made to look like feathers also tipped with amethysts (.08).Tumblers: Each: 4 3/4 × 3 in. (12.1 × 7.6 cm)

Historical NoteKing Fahd bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia presented this beverage set during a state visit in 1985. They were on display prior to the State Dinner given in his honor on February 11, 1985. The set has been on display at the Library in 1993, 2007, and 2010.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
