Physical DescriptionA piece of wood flooring from Old North Dixon High School. The flooring has been date stamped "Dixon, Illinois January 20, 1981, INAUGURATION DAY." The right side of the flooring has a large "USA 15c Everett Dirksen" stamp. Below the stamp is black text stating, "Old North Dixon High School : Ronald Reagan's Alma Mater."Historical NoteRonald Reagan entered Dixon High School in 1924 and graduated in 1928. There he played football and served as the president of the Dramatic Club and art director of the yearbook.
Everett Dirksen (1896-1969) was a United States Senator from Illinois (1951-1969) and Senate Minority Leader. His stamp was issued January 4, 1981, just before President Reagan's inauguration day.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
