Physical DescriptionA bronze sculpture of a Spanish gaucho on horseback spearing a wild boar on a wood base. The sculpture is numbered 7 out of 15 and is signed "A Coello."
Historical NoteThe sculpture, by artist Antonio Coello de Portugal, is number 7/15. The King and Queen of Spain were supposed to visit on December 9, 1983, but were prevented from visiting. The piece had already been delivered in advance of the meeting, and during the Reagan administration is was on display in the White House West Wing Study.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and was on display in the White House until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
