Physical DescriptionA Commemorative Medal commemorated the peace treaty's ratification between Honduras and El Salvador on December 10, 1980. The obverse of the coin states, "Ratificación del Tratado de Paz Honduras El Salvador, Duarte Gutierrez Paz Garcia Picture, Tegucigalpa Honduras, 10 Diciembre de 1980." The text is set around the profile portraits of three men looking left. On the reverse of the coin is text stating, "Honduras El Salvador, Tratado de Paz, Lima Perú, 30 de Octubre de 1980, La Paz es el, Bien Supremo de los Pueblos," with the image of a bird flying over the flags of Honduras and El Salvador. Historical NoteThe medal was given when President Ronald Reagan met with Roberto Suazo Córdova, the President of Honduras, in the Oval Office on July 14, 1982.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
