Physical DescriptionA bronze commemorative medal depicting the Warsaw Uprising. The image on the obverse is a man kneeling in front of a brick wall, holding a smaller human figure in his hands as he cries out. Near the man's leg is a gun. The text on the medallion states, "WARSAW UPRISING 1944-1984." On the verso of the medallion is a gold cross with text at the center stating "MONTE CASSINO MAJ 1944." Around the edge of the medal is text stating, "1944 - YALTA - 1984, TO YOU SOLDIERS - TWICE BETRAYED."Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
