On the back of the plate are the Boy Scout Logo and text stating, “Norman Rockwell Second Edition, 1982 Boy Scouts of America Calendar Series ‘A Guiding Hand’ 2,718/10,000 Dave Grossman Designs, Inc. FINE CHINA Decorative use only.”Historical NoteThe Boy Scout gifts were given during the annual meeting to present the BSA Report to the Nation in the Oval Office, held on February 3, 1983. The plate depicts the Norman Rockwell painting, A Guiding Hand, which was used for the Boy Scouts of America 1946 calendar.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
