The bottom of the photograph is inscribed in Korean.Historical NoteIt was given during the State visit of President Chun February 1-3, 1981. While he was in the US, President Chun presented a significant contribution to the Smithsonian Institution on behalf of the Korean people for the construction of a Museum of Eastern Art on the Mall in Washington to enhance inter-cultural understanding and appreciation between the people of America and the peoples of Asia. During the Reagan administration, the photograph was on display in the White House West Wing Picture Room.Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and was on display in the White House until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
