Physical DescriptionA silver-colored commemorative medal of the Cologne Cathedral. The obverse of the coin has text stating "1880 - KULNERDOM SEIT 100 JAHREN VOLLENDET 1980 COELLEN 1477" with an image of the cathedral in a city setting. The coin's reverse has text surrounding a front view of the cathedral.
Historical NoteThe medal was given through the American Embassy in Bonn when President Ronald Reagan was in Germany. He visited Bonn and Berlin in West Germany June 9-11, 1982. He addressed the German Bundestag and the people of Berlin, and attended NATO meetings.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
