Physical DescriptionThis is a doll of a Japanese woman in a colorful Kimono with a floral design. The woman wears a red and gold headdress intertwined in a traditional bun hairstyle. Her makeup is styled with a white face, red lips, and red eyeliner. The doll is mounted on a wooden stand.Historical NoteThis doll in traditional Japanese clothing was given through the Embassy of Japan, and flown on Japan Air Lines, following Michio Watanabe's attendance at President Reagan's Inauguration January 20, 1981.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
