Physical DescriptionAn original lithograph of Royal Riding School at The Hague. There are fifteen engravings in black on an off-white background of horses being put through various exercises by men in military uniform. In the center is an image of the courtyard at the Royal Stables. Above it is an image of a raised curtain with five horseheads coming up from it. It is matted in white in a dark brown wood frame. The back is covered in gray paper with a picture wire. In the center, a white sticker with text stating: “ROYAL RIDING SCHOOL AT THE HAGUE, 1838. Lithograph printed by the Van Lier brothers” in black.Historical NoteThis original lithograph, by the Van Lier Brothers, depicts the riding school at the royal stables. The Royal Stables were established in 1815, and in 1876, new royal stables were built at Noordeinde Palace. The lithograph was given during a state of visit of then-Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus in 1982. President Ronald Reagan displayed it at Rancho del Cielo during the administation..

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and was on display at Rancho del Cielo until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
