Physical DescriptionThis is a color photograph of Prime Minister of Japan Zenko Suzuki. The left and right sides of the photograph are inscribed in Japanese. The back of the photograph is stamped "Photograph Office, Prime Minister's official residence 2-3-1, Nagata-cho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan Tel. 03-581-0101/9843." The date is left blank.Historical NoteIt was given during a state visit by Prime Minister Zenkō Suzuki of Japan and and Sachi Suzuki May 7-8, 1981. On May 7, after a formal welcome on the South Lawn of the White House, President Reagan and the Prime Minister met privately in the Oval Office and then with their delegations in the Cabinet Room. That night they attended a State Dinner in honor of Suzuki. On May 8, Nancy Reagan and Mrs. Suzuki had tea in the White House Map Room.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
