Physical DescriptionA black and gold commemorative plate depicts a male and female dancer in traditional Thai dress on a patterned carpet with creeping plants or flames behind them. The plate is lettered '*THANKS TO THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA* PAYAP COLLEGE * CHURCH OF CHRIST IN THAILAND * CHIANG MAI * THAILAND*' around the edge. The back is plain black.Historical NoteThe plate, showing a traditional dance, was a gift to the people of the United States from the Thai Folk Drama Troupe at Payap College in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It was presented to Lt. Col. R. Childress of the National Security Council when the drama troupe performed on August 13, 1982.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
