Physical DescriptionA Pat Oliphant political cartoon, matted in white and in a light wood frame, titled The cartoon is divided in two. One side shows Reagan, dressed as a "cool cat," sitting at a desk, talking on the phone. Bush is standing behind him, holding a purse. On the other side is the Ayatollah Khomeini. He is sitting on the floor of a bombed out building, talking on the phone. A rocket is shooting by and a shell is on the floor. Punk is on Reagan's side of the cartoon and the man is on Khomeini's side of the drawing.
Reagan: WHAT'S HAP'NIN,' RUHOLLAH, BABY? YEAH, THINGS ARE TOUGH ALL OVER. SAY, IT'S GETTING TO BE ELECTION TIME HERE AGAIN . . YEAH . . . WELL, I'M GONNA NEED SOME ENHANCEMENT FOR MY GUY, Y'KNOW? Historical NoteUpon hearing Ronald Reagan enjoyed political cartoons, the Kiplinger Foundation gave the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library a collection of Oliphant cartoons that covered the range of President Reagan's administration, selected by Pat Oliphant.

Custodial History NoteThe item was created by Pat Oliphant during the Reagan Administration. The Kiplinger Foundation purchased seventy-four original drawings from Pat Oliphant, had them matted and framed, and donated them to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in 1990.
