Physical DescriptionRed leather presentation box with gold hardware. The top flips up, and the front opens at the center and folds outward. There is the cypher of King Hassan (a crowned H) in gold on the lid. The inside is lined in white satin and lettered "CHAUMET PARIS 12 PLACE VENDOME LUNDRES, BRUXFILES,GENEVE” in gold. The box originally held the gold clock (1982.00928.01), and there is a depression in the bottom where the clock was held.Historical NoteKing Hassan of Morocco visited the White House on May 19, 1982. He brought many gifts for both President Reagan and members of the staff.Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
