Physical DescriptionA Cal Poly Mustang bronze sculpture shaped like a rearing mustang on a walnut base. The sculpture depicts the school's mascot. A small brass plate on the base states THE CAL POLY MUSTANG, R.M. HARRIS, 82/150.” Also included is an authenticity certificate.Historical NoteCal Poly Mustang bronze sculpture in shape of a rearing mustang on a walnut base. The sculpture depicts the school's mascot and is a replica of the life-sized 750 pound sculpture unveiled at California Polytechnic State University Golden Anniversary Celebration April 23, 1982. Dr. Roy M. Harris, an animal physiologist at Cal Poly, sculpted the horse. The gifters also contributed to the Cal Poly Alumni Association in the president's name.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
