Physical DescriptionA color photograph of President Ronald Reagan and Prime Minister Brian Mulroney of Canada walking down a sidewalk as they arrive at the Hunt Club in Toronto, Canada, for dinner June 19, 1988. President Reagan wears a blue jacket, gray trousers, white shirt, white pocket square, and blue and white dotted tie. Mulroney wears a dark blue suit, white shirt, and light gray tie. There are men in suits at a distance behind them and a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer in a red uniform in the foreground. There is a large white border, which is inscribed “Ron Why are these Irishmen smiling! With warm regards, Brian” in black across the bottom. Verso is lettered “88-c-4559-15A” in the middle.Historical NoteThe Hunt Club dinner was one of the events world leaders attend during their trip to Canada for the G-7 Economic Summit June 19-21, 1988. In August that year Prime Minister Mulroney sent President Reagan this inscribed photo of the two of them through the American Embassy in Toronto as a memento of the event.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
