Physical DescriptionAn original cartoon in red frame by Pat Oliphant. The cartoon depicts multiple fire engines in front of the White House. The DC Fire chief is turning the fire hydrant, which has hoses attached. Caption: "ANY TIME YOU PUT THAT MANY CANDLES ON A BIRTHDAY CAKE, YOU GOT TROUBLE." In the lower right corner, Punk stands in front of a sign that reads, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" The cartoon reads "For President Reagan – Happy 70th! -- Pat Oliphant" across the top and "(HOLD FOR PRESIDENT'S BIRTHDAY)" below the caption. The cartoon is signed "UNIVERSAL PRESS SYNDICATE © 1981 WASHINGTON STAR OLIPHANT" in the upper left. Verso has hanging wire and brown backing paper.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and was on display in the White House until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
