Physical DescriptionA silver-plated medallion commemorating the 700th anniversary of the Vespri Siciliani. The coin's obverse has text stating "PROVINCIAL ADMINISTRATION OF PALERMO VII CENTENARY OF THE SICILIAN VESPERS 1982" with an image of the coat of arms. The verso of the coin depicts a battle scene.
Historical NoteThe medal was given to the American Consul General Ralph T. Jones in Palermo, Sicily, by Dr. Ernesto Di Fresco, President of the Province of Palermo, for President Ronald Reagan.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
