Physical DescriptionA bronze sculpture titled "The Spirit of '89" by G. N. Taylor. The sculpture is of a pioneer woman riding sidesaddle armed with a rifle. The base is engraved, "'THE SPIRIT OF '89', G. N. TAYLOR, PRESENTED TO PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN BY THE PEOPLE OF OKLAHOMA JANUARY 20, 1981."
Historical NoteIt was presented at the 1st Inaugural Dinner Dance at the Washington Hilton Hotel January 20, 1982 on behalf of the Oklahoma Eagles. During the Reagan administration it was on display in the White House West Wing.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and was on display in the White House until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
