Physical DescriptionA cut lead glass shallow bowl with Cut Fan/Crisscross and starburst pattern. There is a green and gold sticker on the rim.
Historical NoteThis Cavan crystal bowl was filled with shamrocks when it was presented to President Reagan in the Oval Office on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1982, by Prime Minister Charles Haughey of Ireland. Following the Oval Office meeting was a luncheon for Haughey in the East Room. President Reagan writes about the luncheon, "Frank Patterson, the great Irish Tenor & his harpist wife Eily entertained. He explained what 'Danny Boy' was before he sang it and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. I never knew it was a mother saying goodbye to her son who was going off to war."

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
