Physical DescriptionA sculpture of a cart pulled by oxen with a driver mounted onto a wooden base. The sculpture has a wood and glass case to cover it. On the base is a metal plaque: "With the Complements of Lt. Gne. H.M. Ershad ndc, psc President of the Council of Ministers Govt. of the People's Republic of Bangladesh."Historical NoteIt was a gift of Hussain Muhammed Ershad, President of the Council of Ministers of the People's Republic of Bangladesh during a working visit on October 25, 1983. President Ronald Reagan and General Ershad met in the Oval Office and held a working luncheon, together with U.S. and Bangladesh officials, in the State Dining Room before addressing reporters in the East Room.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
