Physical DescriptionA political cartoon celebrating Reagan's win in 1980. President Ronald Reagan, a cartoon figure with a realistically drawn face, is holding papers lettered "IN A LANDSLIDE" and "40TH U.S. PRESIDENT". He is looking over his shoulder at a balding man in a suit with a mustache and glasses, who is raising a top hat lettered "AMERICAN PEOPLE" with an American flag in the handband. There are two dialogue bubbles, one above the man and one to the right: "CONGRATULATIONS RONNIE, ON THE GREAT ROLE YOU HAVE WON. AND NOW REMEMBER…" and "IT'S HAPPY ENDINGS THAT ARE BOX OFFICE WITH ME." The cartoon is lettered "For President REAGAN… Sincerely, John CHASE" in the lower left and "LOUISIANA NEWSPAPERS NOV. 1980" in the lower right. The cartoon is in a silver frame with blue, white, and red mats. The back of the frame is covered in black paper and has a hanging wire. In the center is a white sticker lettered "JOHN CHASE ORIGINAL CARTOON To: PRESIDENT-ELECT RONALD REAGAN BEST WISHES [signature] KIRBY J. Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
