Physical DescriptionA rectangular belt buckle depicting an image of a cowboy on a horse set in a desert mountain landscape. The text on the buckle states, "DAN CLAUDE BIRD, SHERIFF, LONDON, TEXAS 1870-1903." The back of the buckle is engraved with a floral western motif and the outline of the state of Texas. The text on the back states, "© SCULPTOR AL SHELTON STUDIO CITY, CA 91604 A Limited Edition Commemorative."Additional Details
Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
