Physical DescriptionA gold Canadian maple leaf shaped brooch. On the stem of the leaf are three rubies.Historical NoteIt was a gift to First Lady Nancy Reagan, given during the Reagans' state visit to Canada March 10-11, 1981. On March 10, President and Mrs. Reagan were the guests of Prime Minister Schreyer at a gala performance at the National Arts Centre and attended a State Dinner at Rideau Hall, the Governor General's residence in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. On March 11, President and Mrs. Reagan participated in a tree planting ceremony to plant two silver maple trees at Rideau Hall.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
