Physical DescriptionA pin depicting the flags of the US and the UK joined together. The British Union Jack makes up the left and bottom quarters, while the American flag is in the upper and right quarters. It is inlaid with lapis lazuli, red jasper, and opalized agate. It is lettered on the back, "BRITAIN SALUTES NEW YORK" and signed by artist and lettered "1983."Historical NoteThe gifter, Valerie Jo Coulson, was the Honorary Chairman of the Britain Salutes New York Festival in 1983.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
