Physical DescriptionA 18kt gold chain necklace with a bronze Roman coin set in the exagonal center bezel. The gold bezel is inscribed "IMPERO ROMANO CONSTANZO II, 323-361 A. D." The necklace was designed by Bulgari.Historical NoteThe coin depicts Constantius II, who was the Emperor of Rome from 337-361 AD. He shared rulership of the Roman Empire with his brothers until 350, when he became the sole Emperor.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
