Physical DescriptionA white porcelain sculpture in the shape of the Royal Bavarian rampant lion stands on a base, holding a shield depicting the Rautenflagge (lozenge flag) of Bavaria, an array of 21 or more blue and white lozenges. The bottom has a green Nymphenburg stamp.Historical NoteIt was presented during a meeting in the Oval Office March 18, 1982, and during the Reagan administration it was on display in the White House West Wing Picture Room.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and was on display in the White House until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
