Physical DescriptionA pewter belt buckle with a design depicting the Abraham Lincoln 4 Cent Stamp. The text on the front of the buckle states "UNITED STATES POSTAGE, 4c, ABRAHAM LINCOLN."
Historical NoteThe buckle is based on the design of the blue 4c Abraham Lincoln Sesquicentennial stamp issued in 1958 as the final stamp in the Lincoln sesquicentennial series. It features a partial image of the seated Lincoln statue in the Lincoln Memorial on the National Mall in Washington, DC, which was designed by Daniel Chester French and carved by the Piccirilli Brothers. The pastel image used on the stamp was drawn by Austrian painter and illustrator Fritz Busse.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
