Physical DescriptionThis is a silver-plated cigarette box bearing the seal of Mexico and a facsimile of President José López Portillo's signature. The hinged lid has an insert of colored glass on the inside, and the lower interior portion of the box is lined with a red-toned wood.Historical NoteThe box was given during a trip to Cancún, Mexico, for the International Meeting on Cooperation and Development, held October 21-24, 1981.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
