Historical NoteFirst Lady Nancy Reagan appeared as herself on a special episode of the TV series Diff'rent Strokes in 1983. The anti-drug episode gave Mrs. Reagan a large audience for her Just Say No message. She came to talk to Arnold’s (Gary Coleman) school after he learns that drugs are being sold at school while working for the school paper. This framed section of the crawl, or running credits, lists Mrs. Reagan as a “Special Guest.”

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
