Physical DescriptionArt deco earrings in platinum and gold, with diamond and onyx drops. Each earring has a small onyx cabochon with a filigreed inverted triangle set with a diamond, and two elongated platinum pieces set with small diamonds hanging from it. The end is a large round onyx cabochon with a triangular platinum triangular top set with a diamond, round pearl around the sides, and a central round platinum filigree circle set with five small round diamonds. The posts and la pousette backings are gold.Historical NoteThey were given to Nancy Reagan by Hannelore Kohl through Ambassador Peter Herme, the West German Ambassador to the United States from 1979 to 1984.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
