Physical DescriptionA glass ashtray with a large beaded rim. In the center is etched the governor's seal of Alabama, lettered “OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR STATE OF ALABAMA” in the circle.
Historical NoteThe ashtray was a gift from Governor Forrest Hames and Miss Alabama United Teenager 1983 April Dawn Harris, who brought the gift with her during a White House tour with the Miss United Teenager delegates December 29, 1982.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
