Physical DescriptionA commemorative gold coin for Belize is enclosed in plastic and set in a cardboard sleeve. The coin's obverse features a coat of arms within a wreath with text stating, "BELIZE ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS." The verso of the coin features an image of a kinkajou, and the date is 1982. The blue cardboard has white text stating "BELIZE ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS" on the obverse and "Belize ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR GOLD COIN PROOF" on the verso.Historical NoteThe coin was given when George Cadle Price, the Prime Minister of Belize, met with President Ronald Reagan in the Oval Office on May 12, 1983.
Kinkajous are small tree-dwelling mammals related to coatis and raccoons. They are found in tropical rainforests in Central and South America.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
