Physical DescriptionThis is a necklace made of coral beads in graduated shades, starting with dark coral pink at the center and fading to white towards the top. There is a gold and coral clasp, and the coral piece is carved with flowers.
Historical NoteThe necklace was given during First Lady Nancy Reagan's visit to Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA on May 1, 1983 for the Pepperdine University Associates Dinner. Mrs. Reagan received an Honorary Doctorate of Laws degree in recognition of her commitment to public service.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
