Physical DescriptionA restored 1920’s microphone mounted on a plastic base. The base is inscribed “Presented by The National Radio Broadcasters Association to President Ronald Reagan in recognition of his superlative use of radio in communicating with the American people, The White House, July 14, 1983.”Historical Note1920s era microphone mounted on black base. The plaque reads, "PRESENTED BY THE NATIONAL RADIO BROADCASTERS ASSOCIATION TO PRESIDENT RONALD REAGAN IN RECOGNITION OF HIS SUPERLATIVE USE OF RADIO IN COMMUNICATING WITH THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, THE WHITE HOUSE, JULY 14, 1983." It was presented in the Oval Office, and President Reagan wrote in his diary that day, "Quite a session of photo ops. with ...Reps. of Nat. Radio Assn.—an award to me for use of radio."

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
