Physical DescriptionA framed (.01b) belt buckle (.01a) depicting the image of an American Indian rowing a canoe over the number 100 with the text "KLAMATH COUNTY, 1882-1982 CENTENNIAL." The back of the buckle has text stating, "(c) 1982 Siskiyou Leather and Buckle Co. Inc WILLIAMS OREGON, A hundred years ago, Klamath County began to settle into cattle agriculture and timber industries. Roads and trade systems of the economic sections were built on many of the Indian trails developed for intertribal trade. In many cases towns developed at the sites of original tribal villages. The Klamath Indian culture began to feel the changes in adapting to a reservation system. The towns, trade networks, and the raw resources of 100 years ago are still prevalent and are the major influences on Klamath County today. No. 1388/2500 1982 Limited Edition." The frame for the belt buckle display is made out of wood and filled with a navy blue fabric. Stamped on the back of the frame is "STEVE & LAWREEN BROW 201 EAST CROSSWAR DR. GOLD HILL, OREGON 97525 PH. 1-855-1385."
Historical NoteThe buckle was given in advance of President Ronald Reagan's trip to Klamath Falls, OR for remarks and a Question-and-Answer Session With Representatives of the Western Forest Products Coalition on June 6, 1983.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
