The screen on the etch-a-sketch states, "This special edition Etch A Sketch is presented to Ronald W. Reagan, the 40th President of The United States, in commemoration of The Ohio Art Company's 75th Year of participation in the American Free Enterprise System. The World of Toys (tm) Presented October 24, 1983" with an image of the White House. The frame is embossed with text stating, "MAGIC Etch A Sketch (r) SCREEN, OHIO ART, The World of Toys, 'Another Creation by OHIO ART,' MAGIC SCREEN IS GLASS SET IN STURDY PLASTIC FRAME, USE WITH CARE."Historical NoteThe Gold etch-a-sketch special edition with a picture of the White House was presented to President Reagan to commemorate the Ohio Art Company's 75th anniversary, who produced the toy from 1960-2016.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
