Physical DescriptionA round silver-toned commemorative medallion for the First Ranger Battalion. Obverse: The unit insignia (a quartered shield with a sun in the upper left and a star in the lower right, bisected by a lightning bolt) with ribbons lettered "1st RANGER Bn OMAHA BEACH” above and “MYITKYINA SICILY KOREA MESSINA VIETNAM AND GRENADA" below. Reverse: A scroll inscribed “COMMANDER IN CHIEF” with a Master Parachutist Badge above and crossed rifles with “75” below. It has “RANGERS LEAD THE WAY” along the bottom edge.Historical NoteThe 75th Ranger Regiment 1st Battalion was deployed by President Reagan to Grenada on October 25, 1983 as part of "Operation Urgent Fury," the military invasion aimed at evacuating American medical students and establishing a democratic government.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
