The sculpture is by Florin Codre and represents Di Garibaldi.Historical NoteBronze statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi (1807-1882) on horseback by Romanian artist Florin Codre. Garibaldi was a general whose military campaigns, especially in Sicily and Naples, helped lead to the unification of Italy. It was given by Prime Minister Bettino Craxi of Italy during a working visit October 21, 1983.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a foreign official to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
