Physical DescriptionA metal canister commemorating the wedding of HRH The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer. The canister has a blue background and a photograph of Prince Charles and Diana during their engagement interview. Diana is wearing a blue suit and a white blouse with a blue printed design with a bow and the neck, and her sapphire engagement ring is on display. Prince Charles is wearing a suit and tie. The blue lid is lettered “ROYAL WEDDING JULY 1981” in blue on a white ribbon. The canister is stamped “MADE IN ENGLAND Regency Ware” on the bottom.Historical NoteThe wedding of HRH The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer took place on July 29, 1981 at St Paul's Cathedral in London, England, UK. Nancy Reagan was in attendance. All manner of souvenirs were created in both the UK and abroad to commemorate the wedding of the heir to the throne.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
