Physical DescriptionA get-well letter from the students of the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP). The front of the letter depicts a drawing of President Ronald Reagan riding a horse in Western garb with an American flag in the background. The artwork is matted with a red and blue border. Inside the card are two letters mounted on either side. The letter on the left side states, "I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man. Thomas Jefferson." The letter on the right side states, "Dear President Reagan, We salute your courage, and as students from all over America, support your fight to preserve and expand freedom for all peoples. We send our prayers for your complete and speedy recovery. Sincerely, the students of CARP, Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles Michael C. Smith President, East Coast CARP." There is a signature in blue ink for Michael C. Smith near the bottom of the letter.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
