Physical DescriptionA postcard depicting a scene from Dixon, IL. The image is of a river in Dixon. There is a women in a pink blouse, dark skirt, and white hat sitting on the bank near a tree in the foreground. There is a bridge over the river in the background. The postcard is lettered in red in the upper right “GRAND DETOUR BRIDGE, CROSSING ROCK RIVER ABOVE DIXON, ILL.” The back is off-white lettered in brown on the right side “Post Card The space above is reserved for Postmark THIS SPACE FOR ADDRESS ONLY.” Along the left edge of the line is “THIS SPACE IS RESERVED FOR MESSAGE.” There is a stamped outline of an American flag with a “1” in the center. In the upper center is a round black postmark “DIXON JUN 6 10-AM 19 08 ILL.” There is a green Ben Franklin 1c stamp in the upper right corner. The postcard is addressed by hand in ink, “Mrs Eden Gridley Amburg Ill.” There is a handwritten message on the left.Additional DetailsCustodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan and First Lady Nancy Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
