Dick Nunis began working for Disneyland when it opened in 1955. Ronald Reagan served as emcee for the opening. From 1967-1974, Nunis was chairman of the Park Operations Committee and vice president of operations. He helped create “Project X,” or Walt Disney World. In 1971 he was executive vice president of both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, and in 1980 became president of the Outdoor Recreation Division. He again welcomed President Reagan to a Disney Park on March 8, 1983, when President Reagan and Nancy Reagan visited EPCOT center. He worked on plans for Walt Disney World, EPCOT Center, Disney-MGM Studios, Disneyland Paris, and Tokyo Disneyland. On May 26, 1999, his 44th anniversary, Nunis retired from Walt Disney Attractions.
