Hassan II (b. July 9, 1929, Rabat, Morocco; d. July 23, 1999, Rabat, Morocco) was King of Morocco from 1961 to 1999. He was a member of the Alawite dynasty. In 1956, he served as the Commander in Chief of the Royal Moroccan Army; in 1960, he was named Prime Minister.
