Physical DescriptionA red and white Game Master basketball autographed by the 1985-1986 Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team. On one of the white sections is a drawing of a red cardinal wearing a white jersey with a red "L" on the chest. The red section above has text stating "Game Master LV2010" in black, and the red section below states "Louisville" in white. Another white section has text stating "3 TAIWAN 8 TO 9 LBS MOISTEN NEEDLE BEFORE INSERTING" in black. The autographs on the ball include Herbert Crook, Mark McSwain, Keith Williams, Avery Marshall, Pervis Ellison, Chris West, Milt Wagner, Tony Kimbro, Jeff Hall, Billy Thompson, Bob Dotson, Wade Houston, Kenny Payne, Will Olliges, Denny Crum, David Robinson, Robbie Valentine, and Mike Abram.
Historical NoteBasketball with a cardinal mascot autographed by the Louisville Cardinals men's basketball team, the 1985-1986 NCAA Champions, their second title. It was presented to President Reagan by senior Billy Thompson during a joint celebration in the White House Rose Garden April 16, 1986 for the Cardinals and the University of Texas Women's Basketball team, the women's NCAA champions. President Reagan said, “Since we have both your teams here today, we were thinking of setting up a couple of hoops on either end of the Rose Garden here and letting you play off against each other.”

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
