The painting depicts Norman Rockwell dressed in a Boy Scout uniform with paintbrushes in hand, showing four Boy Scouts his artwork.Historical NoteOn February 5, 1981 President Reagan attended the ceremony to receive the Boy Scouts Annual Report to the Nation in the Oval Office with scouts and BSA President Dr. Thomas MacAvoy. He was also given the BSA themed plate.

Custodial History NoteThe item was a gift from a member of the general public to President Ronald Reagan during the Reagan administration. It was received through the Executive Office of the President Office of Correspondence and maintained there until its transfer to the National Archives in January, 1989 for deposit with the Reagan Presidential Library.
